Hello, everyone! Hope you had a good summer.
My review plans got set aside for the past few months, as quite a few life changes occurred for me. If you haven't already heard, I was officially diagnosed as autistic at beginning of July, and as a result, most of my reading time was filled up with books recommended to help me better understand myself and navigate life as a neurodivergent woman in an incredibly neurotypical world.
Shortly after my diagnosis, I heard the news that one of my favourite authors (whose name I won't mention to avoid potential arguments in the comments) has been accused of sexually assaulting two women; at the time I'm writing this, that number has increased to five women. This isn't the first time that a celebrity I admire has turned out to be a horrible person, but even though I've tried to tell myself not to idealize people so I'm not disappointed when they reveal they are flawed, it still hurts. And hearing this news understandably killed my desire to read a write for a while.
In happier news, I've recently started a 3-month administrative training program to help my search for stable employment. It's a difficult but rewarding course, and considering I haven't really set foot in a classroom setting since 2017, I'm pleasantly surprised with how well I'm doing. I'm also preparing for a long road trip to participate in my best friend's wedding, so my schedule is busier than ever.
With that in mind, I'm hoping to get a new review out sometime towards the end of October or beginning of November. Something spooky, in keeping with the season. I make no promises so I don't have to worry about disappointing you. But I will make a effort, for my own sake, to set aside ample reading time in the next month.
Take care of yourselves!
